Approximate educational estimate only. This is not your official RMD and not tax advice. See methodology and limitations below.
Estimated RMD
Approximate amount for the year
Always confirm the amount and deadline with your custodian, tax professional, and current IRS rules.
How this calculator works
This tool divides the account balance you enter by a life-expectancy factor from the IRS Uniform Lifetime Table corresponding to the age you enter (for common owner RMD situations). The result is an approximate RMD for that year under that simplified method.
Important limitations
- This is a rough estimate only. It is not a substitute for the RMD calculated by your custodian, tax software, or tax professional.
- Different rules apply in many situations (for example, a spouse more than 10 years younger as sole beneficiary, inherited IRAs, multiple accounts, or plan-specific rules).
- IRS tables, ages, and deadlines can change. Factors used here may not match the table in effect for your distribution year.
- The tool does not determine whether an RMD is required, the correct deadline, or tax withholding.
- This is not tax or investment advice and is not personalized to your accounts.
Rely on official IRS guidance and your custodian’s figures before taking distributions. Discuss your situation with your adviser and tax professional.
